Just eat, a food delivery platform, now accept payments in Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin cash (BCH) and Ethereum (ETH), but only in France.
This was possible thanks to the integration of BitPay. As a result, users will be able to pay in Bitcoin choosing from more than 15,000 restaurants across the country.
Interestingly, BitPay also displays a large list of wallets and exchanges through which payments can be made, including Binance, Coinbase, and Eidoo, for example.
The French Just Eat website explains.
“We do not charge any fees for Bitcoin payments. To make a payment with Bitcoin, you have to create a digital wallet by downloading special software or an application ”.
But there is more.
Just eat was acquired recently by TakeAway.com, so all the websites of this holding company now accept Bitcoin, although not all Just Eat subsidiaries yet, given that on the Italian website, for example, payments with BTC are not possible.
Payments in France and Bitcoin
In 2019 France was rumored to see thousands of new stores accepting cryptocurrencies this year, and this is certainly a step forward for Just Eat.
Also, many French tobacconists have recently bought crypto assets like BTC but also Tezos.
Digital currencies in France
In August there were also rumors that the Central Bank of France he was working on his own digital currency.
In July the first test of the digital euro was carried out in the country.
The Banque de France worked with technical partners to conduct tests, based on a DLT developed by their team, to test the use of a CBDC for the issuance of digital financial securities of Société Générale Forge.
