Messi faces LaLiga: he denies that he has to pay his clause to leave Barça

Leo Messi has responded to LaLiga. Through a letter sent by his father Jorge Messi, he maintains that "it is obvious that the compensation of 700 million provided in the previous clause is not applicable at all ", denying the statements that LaLiga had made.

"We do not know which contract is the one that they have analyzed and what are the bases on which they conclude that the same contract with a 'termination clause' applicable in case the player decides to use the unilateral termination of the same, with effect from the end of the 2019/20 sports season ", states the letter.

However, the latest information suggests that the Argentine has decided to stay one more year at Barça due to the impossibility of leaving for free and to avoid legal proceedings.

However, at the end of August, Messi sent a burofax to the Catalan club in which he requested that he be granted the freedom letter to be able to sign for another club, a request that was ignored by the Blaugrana entity. In this communication he made reference to the clause that he has in his contract and that allowed him to go free before June 10. Therefore, its future remains unknown.
