The Government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, president of the Community of Madrid, has announced the cancellation of the bullfight in Alcalá de Henares which was to be held this weekend, bringing together more than 4,000 people. The decision has given a twist to the celebration of the party, since this morning the Department of the Interior granted the last permits to the promoter of the event, while the General Directorate of Public Health "advised against" it.
Ayuso, through his Twitter account, echoed the news and asked "prudence" from his believers in the capital. "The situation of the epidemic in Madrid forces us to be even more cautious", has indicated the president.
The situation of the epidemic in Madrid forces us to be even more cautious.
I have given an order to cancel this event that the City Council of Alcalá authorized on July 31. Hopefully soon.
We support all entrepreneurs, also bullfighting.https: //t.co/ikqFyxMwKN

Despite the fact that the regional Executive authorized the bullfight, the mayor of Alcalá de Henares, Javier Rodríguez Palacios, already claimed a week ago the suspension of the holidayHowever, it was not until yesterday that he received a report from Public Health that supported his request. During this Thursday in an interview with eldiario.es, the councilor has once again expressed his discomfort at the celebration and has asked the Community of Madrid for responsibility.
The Alcalaíno municipality is not one of the regions most affected by Covid-19 in this second wave that shakes the capital of Spain. However, the situation in Madrid does not invite to carry out the celebration because, as explained by the Director of Public Health, its celebration can become a new source of infection given the high influx of people expected and the characteristics of the space where the activity was to take place.
THE PORT OF SANTA MARÍA
Díaz Ayuso's 'ok' for the event to take place has aroused the outrage of a large number of people, especially because of what happened in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz). At the beginning of this month, the Cadiz city commemorated the 140th anniversary of its square by celebrating a bullfight.
During its development, and as the attendees themselves denounced, any type of security measure was not respected. In the images it could be seen that there was no minimum safety distance between the spectators. In addition, a great multitude of these were not provided with the mask.
