Trump signs four executive orders to extend aid against the pandemic

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has signed this Saturday at his golf club in Bedminster (New Jersey) four decrees that contemplate an additional benefit to the unemployed, a delay in the payment of payroll taxes, a moratorium on the repayment of student loans and a freeze on federal housing evictions.

In recent days, Trump had slipped that he could use his executive power to carry out the measures, if talks with the Democrats failed, although the legal basis on which he acts is questioned by the opposition, who have threatened to take their decisions before Justice if Congress is left aside, which is in charge of determining federal spending.

The head of the House of Representatives, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, on Sunday called "unconstitutional slop" the executive orders signed by US President Donald Trump to alleviate the economic effects of the pandemic, after the collapse of negotiations with the progressives.
