William Hill sportsbook has decided to close permanently 119 bookmakers in UK, which constitute the 7.8% of all its establishments, in order to further focus its operations on its ‘online’ division, which currently represents two thirds of its total income, as reported by the company this Wednesday.
Locals had temporarily closed due to measures taken by the Boris Johnson government to slow the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country. However, the company has resolved that its closure be definitive. Most of the workers in these premises will be integrated into other establishments.
The decision to close the 119 betting shops comes after the company merge its two divisions, the 'online' and that of physical centers, to improve the user experience and raise "operational efficiency".
