Ferrovial has been selected to develop the IH 35 highway improvement in Laredo (Texas). The project includes the construction of more than 2.4 kilometers of new elevated connecting links with the main roads, as well as new lanes. Likewise, includes the installation of more than 500 tons of steel beams, among other tasks. Currently, the Ferrovial subsidiary in the United States (Webber) deals with more than 60 projects in Texas, Arkansas, Virginia and Georgia.
The Texas Department of Transportation has chosen, through Webber, Ferrovial to carry out the improvement of the IH 35 highway, located in the city of Laredo (Texas), for 115 million dollars (equivalent to about 103 million euros).
According to forecasts, work will begin at the beginning of next year and will end in 2024.
Ferrovial has reported that this work will increase capacity and improve connectivity of both IH 35 and the US 59 ring road, two fundamental axes for the international transport of goods. Also, the project will expand export capacity of the area with Mexico and Central America, and will create opportunities for the community both in Laredo and for the entire state of Texas.
With this contract, the Ferrovial subsidiary in the United States strengthens the company's presence in the North American country in which, recently, it has been selected to restore a section of 12 kilometers of the SL12 highway in Dallas for $ 301 million.
Ferrovial has built significant infrastructure in the United States such as the LBJ highway in Dallas and segments of the SH 99 Grand Parkway in Houston.
