The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Friday that has ordered the license of the US consulate in Chengdu city be revoked, southwest of China.
The ministry also ordered the consulate to cease operations, according to an online statement. "The current situation between China and the United States It is something that the Chinese side does not want"said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in an online statement collected by CNBC.
"The responsibility falls entirely on the American side"adds the statement. "We urge the US side once again to immediately reverse its relevant wrong decisions, to create the necessary conditions for the relationship between the two countries to return to normal."
The Chengdu Consular District encompasses the controversial Tibet Autonomous Region, Chongqing Township, and Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou Provinces.
The announcement occurs after The US will order China to close its consulate in Houston. US State Department spokesman Morgan Ortagus said the order to close the Chinese consulate general in Houston was made to protect American intellectual property and the private information of its citizens. Beijing had condemned the decision and warned of firm countermeasures.
