Payment giant Visa is looking for blockchain engineers, according to its recent job posting.
The Fortune 500 company that represents 53 percent of all credit card transactions has multiple open positions in Austin, Texas and Foster City, California.
The required set of skills
The job description indicates that Visa is specifically hiring someone with extensive experience on Ethereum and its blockchain architecture:
"We are looking for a strong developer with experience in Ethereum and blockchain architecture to be part of the team charged with creating distributed applications."
This means that a developer must be well versed in the Solidity programming language which is used to create smart contracts (in addition to C ++ or Java).
Your ideal candidate should have worked with Bitcoin, Ripple and the R3 blockchain business platform.
Responsibilities for the new Visa engagement will include leading its ‘unique’ blockchain initiatives, writing code, and tracking new technologies in space.
Visa blockchain-based payment system
Visa has been hiring blockchain engineers for its fintech division for years.
According to recently reported, the company launched its B2B Connect blockchain-based payment system last June. The service, which was first revealed in 2016, allows Visa corporate customers to make frictionless, instant cross-border transfers.
In November 2019, Visa also filed a patent describing the creation of a digital fiat currency.
