Novak Djokovic, current number 1 ranking ATP, has tested positive for coronavirus. The tennis player thus adds to the contagion of other colleagues as Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric and Viktor Troicki, which have also tested positive recently.
From now on, the Serbian tennis player will be forced to isolate himself and leave his training aside, which is a serious blow to his aspirations to get in shape and defend his title.
The men's tennis circuit is scheduled to return on August 14 with the celebration of the Washington Open 500. The ATP has sent wishes for a speedy recovery to the affected athletes and, at the same time, they assure that the security measures will be tightened.
Djokovic's positive comes after calling the US Open measures "extreme and impossible" to be held as planned, from August 31 to September 13. The Serbian is now starting a recovery to get ready and defend his unbeatenness this season, with 18 wins and no losses behind him.
