The Italian Red Cross has launched a fundraiser that accepts bitcoin for the Coronavirus emergency. The campaign, launched thanks to Helperbit, will be used to purchase a second tier Advanced Medical Post setup for pre-triage COVID-19.

Guido Baroncini Turricchia, CEO of Helperbit, said:

"The situation of the National Health System is dramatic and the forecasts for the coming weeks see an overload of hospital facilities. The CRI Colli Albani Committee project is aimed at alleviating, on a small scale, the overload to which emergency rooms are and will be subject. Therefore, we are pleased to be able to contribute to this campaign, also giving the Italian and international crypto community the opportunity to make their presence felt. ”

The cost of this equipment is approximately € 10,000 and any surplus will be used to provide personal protective equipment.

The president of the CRI Committee Colli Albani, Bruno Pietrosanti, supports:

“We need to relieve the pressure on hospitalizations, given the increase in infected patients and the reduced number of places available in hospitals. We believe that using an innovative fundraising tool can help us find the necessary financial resources, which is more difficult to obtain at this time in history. ”

The fundraising is supported by Young Srl, a fintech startup operating in the cryptocurrency sector that has always been ready to support initiatives serving the community, and Blockchain Education Network Italy, a non-profit association founded in 2014 that deals with the dissemination of Bitcoin and blockchain throughout Italy.

Young's CEO, Andrea Ferrero, commented:

"I firmly believe that blockchain technology is more effective and transparent to support this type of initiative. Young is a company that aims to create or take advantage of innovative models to improve existing procedures and we will always be at the forefront of planning, like the one we are adopting for the Red Cross. ”

Emiliano Palermo from Blockchain Education Network Italy, explained:

“During these days of emergency, I have seen many solidarity campaigns emerge, one after another. Finally, also as Blockchain Education Network Italy we are taking the field during this emergency together with Helperbit for transparency in donations ”.
