Deutsche Bank loses 5,300 million in 2019 after a quarter worse than expected

Deutsche Bank AG recorded losses of 5,300 million euros in 2019, which shows the magnitude of the problems that the German bank is going through, which last year announced measures to reduce and reorganize its global investment division after its failed merger attempt with Commerzbank.

This becomes the fourth year of losses for the German bank in the last five years. Its annual income amounted to 23,170 million euros, 8% less than the previous year but somewhat better than expected.

Before taxes, Deutsche notes that it had a profit of 543 million euros in 2019.

During the last quarter of that year, revenues fell 4% to 5,350 million compared to the same period last year. Last December, Deutsche said it was making progress in its control and cost cutting.

Deutsche's great challenges are still there. Will you be able to meet your income goals in an environment of ultra-low rates such as Germany and Europe? Doubts about these types of issues have prompted the ECB in the past to boost merger between entities to strengthen the European banking system.
