The Blockchain of the NEO project, active since mid-October 2016, has experienced incredible development and growing interest over the years.
This has allowed it to have a higher speed and a greater number of transactions compared to those that were available at that time.
Thanks to the analysis by the researcher Christian Ott, it is possible to see how the NEO blockchain has evolved and what numbers it has reached, as well as the trend of the addresses involved in this blockchain.
As mentioned, the launch of the NEO blockchain took place in October 2016 and, until the end of that year, there were more than 300,000 transactions. Only 6 months later, they reached more than 800,000, closing 2017 with just under 5 million transactions.
However, it is in the first half of 2018 that there has been an explosion of transactions, which reached almost 10 million in the first six months, and then closed the second half of the year with just under 8 million. However, unfortunately, in 2019 transactions fell dramatically, reaching between 3 and 4 million, probably due to strong competition from projects such as EOS and TRON (TRX).
As the number of transactions increased between 2016 and 2018, so did the NEO addresses. In 2016 there were more than 5,000 addresses, in the following year there was an increase of almost 9,000% with just under half a million. In 2018, the number of addresses that reached more than 1 million, while last year, in 2019, only 200 thousand new addresses were created.
As for the total of NEO tokens divided between addresses, we see that only 441 addresses have more than 10 thousand NEOs that, at the current price of $ 11, amount to $ 110 thousand, while the addresses with 100 NEO are 4 thousand and the addresses of 100 NEO to 1 NEO are majority, more than 200 thousand.
Finally, the report concludes by referring to the NEP-5 tokens: first, with more than 8 thousand addresses, there is the Nash Exchange (NEX) token, followed by Wowbit (WWB) with 1900 addresses and thirdly the Switching token (SWTH) with 1840 addresses.
Surely 2019 has not been a spectacular year for the development of the NEO blockchain, especially given the fact that one of the main players in the world of tourism, Travala, has migrated to Binance Chain.
