Vitalik Buterin says that a merger between Ethereum 2.0 and Ethereum Classic is technically possible
When asked about a possible merger between the Ethereum 2.0 and Ethereum Classic networks, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said in a Reddit post that it is "technically very possible."
The debate arose on the social network on January 18, when a user said that, according to his understanding, in the future the ETH 1.0 chair will become a fragment of the ETH 2.0 network, due to the technical similarities between the ETH chains and ETC. Buterin then replied:
“Technically very possible! You can simply use the same merge process to import the planned ETC status to ETH, and then the ETC runtime environment code would apply a different exchange rate to the Beacon Chain ETH, depending on the rate at the time of the merger. (or some other previously agreed formula). That is, if you want to merge the coins again, ”he explained.
Buterin said in the end that if communities want this merger or not, it is clearly another matter.
What community members say.
Of course, both Buterin's question and answer are more technical questions and do not mean that this merger, in fact, takes place. However, upon learning of this possibility, the community spoke, making it clear that it is not in favor of this possible integration.
One of the network users participated in the debate saying:
“I will take the freedom to speak for the community. No, we don't care about ETC. We only want ETH 2.0 and POS as soon as possible, and without wasting resources / time on things that don't interest anyone, such as the ETC / ETH merger. ”
Other reinforced user:
"That's not gonna happen. ETC serves a valuable purpose for the Ethereum community, attracting people who fall from the ETH social consensus. (that is, the "exit" exit, voice, loyalty) ".
