The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers have in the National Football League reached the endgame. The 49ers prevailed against the Green Bay Packers in the second semi-final on Sunday with 37:20 (27: 0). The Chiefs had already played their favorite role in the 35:24 (21:17) home win over the Tennessee Titans. The Super Bowl final will be held in Miami on February 3.
After the undisputed success in Santa Clara, California, the 49ers are in the final for the first time in seven years and are reaching for their sixth trophy. Most recently, they achieved a Super Bowl triumph in 1995. The team also includes German Mark Nzeocha, who started his career with the Franken Knights in Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria.
For the team from San Francisco, Raheem Mostert was particularly convincing with 220 yards completed and four touchdowns. Star quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, on the other hand, did not develop as usual, the guests remained without points until the break and were already 0:27 behind at this point.
Kansas City is in the final for the third time after 1967 and 1970 – thanks to a win against the previous surprise team of the Titans from Nashville. The latter had eliminated defending champions New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens in the previous rounds and also quickly took the lead in the game in Kansas. Then, however, the chiefs stabilized and adjusted better to the runs of Titans running back Derrick Henry.
KC quarterback Patrick Mahomes then initiated the turn of the game. The 24-year-old was unstoppable despite the distress and completed a 27-yard run to take a break. In the final quarter, two more touchdowns decided the game.
